UDHAMPUR CAMPUS ORGANISED EXTENSION LECTURE ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND EDP

Mr. Vishal Ray, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Udhampur, today delivered an extension lecture on “Entrepreneurship and EDP” to the students of M.Com and MA Economics at Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu. Mr. Vishal first explained the meaning and the historical background of entrepreneurship. He explained that an entrepreneur is an individual who, rather than working as an employee, found and run a small business, by taking all the risks and rewards of the venture. He then discussed about the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) and how this programme helps an individual to become an entrepreneur. Mr. Vishal explained that EDP helps in developing the entrepreneurial abilities. These abilities are developed among the people through this programme. Also, people may have skills but it requires polishing and incubation and this programme is perfect for them. EDP consists of a structured training process to develop an individual as an entrepreneur and helps the person to acquire skills and necessary capabilities to play the role of an entrepreneur effectively. He gave different examples to make it clear to the students. Mr. Vishal also shared his views on the various policies and the programmes being run by the JKEDI in J&K for the youth, so that they can start-up their own business. These policies may include, NSDA, NSDc, NSDF, SSCs etc. Further, he discussed about the detailed procedure of applying for these schemes. The lecture was very interactive, where the concepts were explained with the help of real life examples and the students got an opportunity to clear all their queries related to the topic. Faculty members of both the departments of Udhampur Campus including Dr. Neetu Kumari, Mamta Sharma, Taruna Dubey, Jhanvi Khanna, Dr. Shilpa Gupta, Dr. Kamini Dutta, Ritika Sambyal and Mukesh Kumar, were also present on the occasion.
