On the Punya tithi of Mahatma Gandhi today, which is observed nationwide as Martyrs Day, staff and students at the Udhampur Campus (Garnai-Lotta), University of Jammu paid respectful homage to the Father of the Nation all those freedom fighters who have been martyred for our nation. A two minutes silence was observed in their honour. Students and faculty highlighted various virtues of Mahatma Gandhi's life and character and made a commitment to emulating his moral principles. Showcasing Mahatma's involvement in the freedom struggle, they also discussed the ideas of swadeshi, Khadi, the importance of agriculture and rural living, swacchta, gender equality and social justice, and untouchability.
